Stephen D. Steger lives and works in Central Texas. Recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Major in Art Education Stephen has added the title of Art Teacher alongside that of Artist and Photographer, having begun his new career at a local high school.

An amateur photographer since 1992, he returned to school to pursue the arts in 2015. Previously he had made a career in Law Enforcement and Corrections spanning seventeen years from which he resigned to care for his mother.

In 2017, he established Neo Alchemy Arts to feature and sell his artwork and to offer his services as a photographer. Mr. Steger's arts include photography, ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry making, Inkle weaving, glassblowing, and brewing.

Artist Statement

I delved into art a bit later in life than many. My interest tends to vary and with the various course requirements for a Fine Arts Degree, I have found so many art mediums with which to express myself. I enjoy the ability to employ skills and techniques from different mediums while working in others! My work is mainly composed of a collection of thoughts, emotions, experiences, and other influences that "resonate within me."

So why the name "Neo Alchemy Arts"?

Neo for a new or revived form. Alchemy, the Medieval predecessor of Chemistry a science of mixture and reaction. Arts for the multiple disciplines and mediums of art from which I work. Simply "Neo Alchemy Arts" is me as an artist who likes to create new works of art from a mixture of influences and inspiration and through a variety of mediums.
